Adam Baumgold gallery presents the exhibition "In A Series" from July 7 though August 12, 2005. The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, works on paper, sculpture and video by 28 artists, each of whose contribution to the exhibition explores a theme in an ongoing body of work.

OtheIncluded in the exhibition will be Adam Dant's "Underneathean Drawings" - scenes of the Queen's Carriage and an English pub with a vantage point below the ground that creates hilarious, off-beat views.  In Robin Tewes' paintings "How To Series" #1 and #2, 2003, male and female nudes appear in near identical settings that question in an amusing way, societal differences and perceptions about man and woman.  Ed Ruscha's "Domestic Tranquility Series," 1974, show everyday domestic objects (clock, dish, bowl, egg) floating in a surreal, outer-space-like grey background.  Scott Teplin's "Donut" drawings are a melange of interconnected pink confections - forms replete with body and sexual connotations. Cyrilla Mozenter's "More Saints Seen Series," 2005, presents a group of humbly hand-stitched fabric forms held together by simple wood armatures that evoke abstracted sainted figures in a quirky, reverential way.

Other
Other works in the exhibition include Saul Steinberg's (Untitled) Arch Series, c. 1950, a group of drawings that gently mocks the solemnity of formal arches, outdoor sculpture and monuments with a rather off-beat group of amusingly bearded, loopy personages that are perched atop and within these structures. In Mark Kostabi's micro paintings "Painful Admission," and "The End of Double Indemnity," oddly shaped silhouetted forms and objects create a surrealistic mood "noir". In Ronnie Bass and Tommy Hartung's video "The Catastrophe," 2005, the mundane domestic life of the character, Terry Avery, is impacted by the impending doom of his hazardous day job as a pressure gauge monitor worker.
