FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SCOTT
TEPLIN
MAY 13 - JUNE 12 ........Adam Baumgold Gallery presents an exhibition of drawings, watercolors and artists books by Scott Teplin, Ternky Towers, from May 13 through June 12. The exhibition features works on paper that have been collected in a new McSweeney's book "The Clock Without a Face." These drawings are an extension of Teplin's voyeuristic room interiors.
........Scott
Teplin collaborated with two writers, Mac Barnett and Eli Horowitz, in
order to create a whodunnit narrative. Beyond fiction, the story enters
into the real world in the form of a nation-wide treasure hunt- each drawn
page in the book has a secretly coded map which directs adventurous readers
to twelve individually buried numerals, 1-12, made of gold and studded
with emeralds, created by jeweler Anna Sheffield. They have been buried
in holes across the country waiting to be found. Whoever first digs them
up gets to keep them. Players and onlookers can follow along with the
progress of the hunt on the fictional narrator Gus Twintig's personal
blog: gustwintig.com. Teplin will also be exhibiting some of the detailed
preparatory drawings contained in one of his many self-made leather-bound
sketchbooks which were filled in the process of completing this project.
........This is Scott Teplin's fourth solo exhibition at the gallery. Teplin lives and works in New York City. His work has been included in exhibitions at P.S. 1 "Greater New York," 2000, The Drawing Center "Winter Selections," 2001, The Bronx Museum "Artists in the Marketplace," 2001 and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, "Artists Books", 2000. His work is included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, New York, MoMA, San Francisco, The Smithsonian Institution, The Walker Art Center, Harvard University, Yale University, The New York Public Library, The Progressive Insurance Co., as well as numerous other museum and public collections. ........The gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11:00-5:30 P.M. For additional information, please contact Adam Baumgold at abaumgold@aol.com or (212)861-7338. |
